The World Cup 2015 ad battle between India and Pakistan takes an interesting turn

The News Minute | February 13, 2015 | 4:20 pm ISTRivals and neighbours India and Pakistan have been known for spicy matches, and over the decades from Azharuddin and Inzamam ul-haq to Virat Kohli and Mishabh ul-Haq, these cricketers have never failed at entertaining their fans. All it took was a sports ad by Star Sports for the 2015 World Cup that set the ball rolling. The channel kicked up its campaign of #wontgiveitback up a notch with the advertisement that mocked the Pakistan cricket team. Showing a boy waiting to burst crackers every World Cup, it depicts a disappointed Pakistani never getting the chance to celebrate his country's victory against India over the years.If India has the spunk to come up with an ad like that, Pakistan, its neighbour and once part of erstwhile India, gave it back in good spirit with an ad of its own. Pakistani news network Samaa TV came up with an ad that reminded India of all the times it had given the team nightmares right from Aquib Javed's hat-trick wicket at Sharjah in 1991 to Saeed Anwar's 194 in 1997.And to be fair, Pakistan did win the World Cup in 1992. This advertisement resulted in Samaa network retaliating by signing off with Afridi’s six in the last over to win the Asia Cup match last year.SAMAA News Comprehensive reply on Indian... by Awaiz_pp TweetFollow @thenewsminute
