The US theatrical rights of Vijay-starrer Theri, an action flick, have been snapped for a whopping Rs 3 crore, making it the highest price ever paid for Vijay’s film in his career.

The deal was officially signed on Monday in Chennai between the film’s producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu and CineGalaxy Inc, a popular distribution company based out of US.

On Sunday, at the film's audio launch, the film’s theatrical trailer was unveiled, and within a span of 24 hours, it had clocked over 2 million views on Youtube, much to the joy of the Nanban star who has an immense following on social media.

Setting a new record of sorts among Vijay’s own recent releases, the trailer has appealed to the masses, with all the ingredients in the making of a blockbuster.

The crisply edited trailer gives us a glimpse of the special bond between Vijay, who plays Joseph Kuruvilla, and his daughter, before quickly shifting gears to some love, action and betrayal.

The surprise package of the trailer, for everybody, happens to be the menacing avatar of veteran filmmaker Mahendran, who plays the antagonist.

Theri is slated for theatrical release on April 14, with special overseas premiere planned a day prior. Directed by Atlee, the film features Vijay as a cop Joseph Kuruvilla, and he will be seen in three different avatars.
