Telugu comedian Venu attacked by Goud community members after "offensive" show

The News Minute | December 22, 2014 | 8:20 am ISTA small screen Telugu comedian Venu, was attacked by a group of people belonging to the Goud community in Hyderabad on Sunday after allegedly portraying the caste in an offensive manner in a comedy show.The police who immediately rushed to the spot and rescued Venu said that the attackers accused him of hurting their sentiments through his acts in a show on a Telugu channel.A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered after the artist lodged a complaint. The comedian was admitted to a hospital following the incident.The attackers claim that they had already approached Venu once before and he had said that he would ensure a thing like this would not happen again.A case was also registered on Venu  and the organizers of the TV show after a few members of the community lodged a complaint against the show. Arrests are yet to be made.
