Rowan Atkinson to star in TV adaptation of Georges Simenon's novel

The News Minute | February 24, 2015 | 7:35 am ISTAfter making people laugh with his popular character Mr. Bean, actor Rowan Atkinson will next play the fictional French detective Jules Maigret in the TV adaptation of Georges Simenon's novel.The two part TV film will be produced by Ealing Studios and Maigret Productions, reports hollywoodreporter.com. Set in the 1950s in Paris, the first of the two-hour long films will be "Maigret Sets A Trap", followed by "Maigret’s Dead Man”.“I have been a devourer of the Maigret novels for many years, and I’m very much looking forward to playing such an intriguing character, at work in Paris during a fascinating period in its history,” Atkinson said.The film will go on the floor in September.IANSTweetFollow @thenewsminute
