Written by : TNM

The makers of superstar Rajinikanth-starrer gangster drama Kabali have confirmed that the Pa Ranjith directed film will finally hit the screens worldwide on July 1 in nearly 3000 screens in Tamil and Telugu.

It's tipped to be the biggest release for a Rajinikanth-starrer, surpassing the previous record held by Lingaa, which released in about 2500 screens.

The film's audio, meanwhile, will be released in the first week of June. Reportedly, producer Thanu had planned to have the launch in Malaysia where a major portion of the film has been shot.

However, it's not yet confirmed whether the audio launch will happen in Chennai or Malaysia. Sources have confirmed that, irrespective of the location, the audio will be unveiled in the first week of June.

In the movie, Rajinikanth plays an ageing don, and his character is said to have been inspired from the life of a real-life don from Chennai. Radhika Apte, Dinesh, Dhansikaa and Kalaiarasan essay important roles in the film.
