Out of the world desserts: Galaxy desserts trend heading to Bengaluru

Written by : TNM Staff

They’re rich, enchanting, deep, luscious. And in the right light, they’ve got whole worlds of goodness in them. Galaxy desserts are the new trend in desserts around the world, and they’ve made their way to Bengaluru as well.

The trend caught up bakers around the world some months ago after Heather Baird of the Sprinkle Bakes website, posted a picture a galaxy cake that she had made.

Her inspiration – a couple of Hubble Space Telescope picture books.

Diya Jojan from The Sugar Therapy in Bengaluru recently got on to the galaxy desserts bandwagon, and is using the technique to make everything from cake pops to donuts and cupcakes.

Galaxy cakes, she says, will soon replace the whole range of rainbow cakes, which was the last trend to sweep across the dessert space.

"The chocolates are salted caramel flavour and the cake pops are Belgian White chocolate. The cake pops have a different texture on them to mimic the galaxy. The cupcakes are black velvet with cream cheese frosting. The doughnuts are vanilla doughnuts with a blueberry filling," says Diya.

So while they look gorgeous, they are also equally decadent.
