Vijay’s Kaththi, produced by Lyca Productions, was released in 2014. Written and Directed by AR Murugadoss, Kaththi was a huge hit.

Anbu Rajasekar, director of Keela Veedhi, Tirukkattupalli claimed that Kaththi’s story has been lifted from his short film "Thaagabhoomi".

In December 2014, Anbu filed a petition in the Thanjavur court against Vijay and AR Murugadoss stating that the film ‘Kaththi’ is a copy of his short film ‘Thaagabhoomi’ and demanded 2 crores as compensation. The court admitted the case and summoned Murugadoss and Vijay.
