Rajinikanth’s Kabali is well on its way to shattering all box office records if weekend collections of the movie are anything to go by.

According to a report by Sreedhar Pillai in Firstpost, the film has collected a whopping Rs 110 crore in India during the three days since it’s release on Friday, July 22 till Sunday, July 24.

The report adds that as per trade sources, the film’s box office collections breakup stands at an estimated Rs 47 crore from Tamil Nadu, Rs 20 crore from Andhra and Telangana, Rs 16 crore from Karnataka, Rs 8 crore from Kerala and Rs 19 crore from the rest of India (including Hindi and Tamil versions).

The opening weekend collection of Rs 47 crore from Tamil Nadu is the highest ever in the state as per the report.

The fact that this was Rajinikanth’s first movie in two years coupled with the record number of over 25 million views that the teaser generated, may have piqued the curiosity of his die-hard fans, who have been thronging to theatres to watch the movie.

A report by Suresh Mathew in the Quint says that including overseas earnings of an estimated Rs 87 crore, the film has minted over Rs 200 crore in just three days since its release.

The film has received a tremendous response in North America, especially in US and Canada, where it released in around 500 screens.

“It is easily the best opening for an Indian film from premiere shows in North America. The film has collected $2 million from the premiere shows and it includes both the Tamil and Telugu version of ‘Kabali’,” Sanjay Dusari, Co-Founder of CineGalaxy Inc, told IANS.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:

With the film going great guns, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it manages to break the record for highest overall gross collections currently held by Enthiran, which remains the Superstar’s highest earning film till date.
