French women's remarkable fight against 'hairy' body stigma a hit on social media

This one is sure to strike a chord with all those ‘hairy’ women who have often hidden behind full-sleeved or floor-length dresses not out of modesty -mind you- but out of sheer embarrassment of having un-waxed or un-shaven arms and legs.

The hashtag #LesPrincessesOntDesPoils which translates into ‘Princesses have hair’ is trending on French Twitter with countless women sharing images of themselves in their ‘hairy’ avatar.

Launched by a 16-year old teen in Belgium, Adele Labo reportedly terms it as her own movement against body shaming and enormous bullying which she suffered at school for refusing to shave her legs.

Adele firmly believes that women should have the choice to treat their bodies in any manner they like, and not be forced to kowtow to peer pressure on what constitutes reigning societal standards of feminine beauty.
