The News Minute | September 7, 2014 | 03:02 pm ISTResearchers of Drexel University, United States, recently unveiled the discovery of the skeleton of a dinosaur species- one of the largest of its kind- and with the most complete skeleton ever found of its type.Drexel University professor Kenneth Lacovara discovered and unearthed the skeleton of the dinosaur with his team between 2005 and 2009. The species is said to be one of the largest dinosaurs to have ever walked on Earth. The dinosaur species has been named Dreadnoughtus schrani and weighed around 65 tons, similar to the weight of a dozen African elephants or seven T. rex. It was also 85 feet (26 m) long. The Dreadnoughtus existed some 77 million years ago in a temperate forest at the southern tip of South America. Lacavora in a report in Drexel NOW said, “With a body the size of a house, the weight of a herd of elephants, and a weaponized tail, Dreadnoughtus would have feared nothing. That evokes to me a class of turn-of-the-last century battleships called the dreadnoughts, which were huge, thickly clad and virtually impervious.”Watch this video published by Drexel University.
