Biriyani to brownies: This Bengaluru petrol pump is giving free food to its customers

How does the idea of a drive-through in a petrol pump sound to you? Especially when there’s free food involved.

A petrol pump on Bengaluru's Old Madras Road is doing just that.

Sree Venkateshwara Service Station is serving free food to its customers, who buy petrol above Rs 250. This offer, however, does not apply to diesel purchases.

The initiative is part of a month-long initiative -- from September 6 to October 6 -- by the petrol pump.

"What we want to tell people is never miss a meal. Our concept is called 'You fill your tank, we fill your tummy'," says Prakash Rao Sathe, proprietor of the petrol pump.

"We want people to have their meals at the right time," he adds. "Normally due to their busy schedules, customers often miss their meals, be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks. So, we thought, when they come to fill petrol, we can serve them a small meal in about 30 seconds to 3 minutes."

Depending on the amount for which you have bought petrol, starting Rs 250 and upwards, you could get anything from tea, coffee, juice, to snacks such as samosa, brownie and cookies, and even biryani.

There's a catch though. After October 6, though these snacks and meals will continue to be available at the petrol pump, but at a price.

But Prakash says that the prices of the items will be affordable.
