Xiaomi launches two ‘Mi Notebook Air’ laptops with backlit keyboard, glass touchpad

Xiaomi has just two new laptops in its Mi Notebook Air series in China. The laptops are 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch as far as the display sizes are concerned and the processors fitted is the 8th Generation Intel CPUs.

The detailed specifications of these 2 new devices are as below

The lower end model is the Mi Notebook Air with a 13.3-inch full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920x1080pixels. The display has a 170-degree viewing angle, 300nits brightness and 80.1% screen-to-body ratio.

The Intel Core i3-8130U, 8th generation processor powers the machine and for graphics, an Intel UHD graphics 620 card does the job. The RAM support is provided by 8GB of DDR4 RAM and on the storage front, a 128GB SATA SSD with scope for expansion through external storage is being provided.

There is a fingerprint sensor fitted on this laptop and a number of connectivity options, including Intel's 2X2 dual-antenna, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v4.1. 1x USB Type-C port, 2x USB 3.0 ports and 1x HDMI port are the ports, apart from the 3.5mm jack for the headphone.

The keyboard is backlit and the Mi Notebook Air has a glass touchpad that ensures precise cursor control. The laptop comes with a 40W battery and a 1MP 720pixel camera for making video calls.

The other variant is the Mi Notebook Air laptop with a 15.6-inch display. The screen resolution of the full HD display is the same 1080x1920pixels. The RAM is only 4GB and there is no change in the storage either. The processor too is the same 8th gen Intel Core i3. There is a dual fan cooling system and 2+2 heat pipe layout.

You can connect external devices through the ports which include 1x USB 2.0, 1x Gigabit Ethernet port, 1x HDMI port, 2x USB 3.0 ports, 1x 3.5mm headphone jack, and 1x 3-in-1 card reader.

The 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air is being sold in China at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs 41,500) and is open for sale. The larger 15.6inch laptop is right now on pre-order and will be priced at CNY 3,399 (roughly Rs 35,500). It is likely to be out on November 11, on Singles Day in that country.

There is no confirmation yet on when these devices will hit the Indian market.
