Xiaomi has launched its next Redmi A series smartphone in the budget segment. The highlight of this new Redmi 8A model is its huge 5,000mAh battery.
Here are the full specifications of the phone launched yesterday by the company in the Indian market:
The dimensions of the phone are 156.48mm×75.41mm×9.4mm with the display being 6.22 inches in size. The higher thickness can be attributed to the larger-sized battery as mentioned above. The aspect ratio has been kept at 19:9 and it’s a full HD+ with Dot notch display. The screen gets protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439SoC processor that clocks a speed of 2.0GHz constitutes the powertrain. RAM support for this processor comes in two variants, 2GB and 3GB and the onboard storage is the same 32GB for both the variants. There is a dedicated slot for the microSD card that can take the storage up by another 512GB.
Xiaomi has fitted a Sony IMX363 12MP lens as the primary shooter in the rear. The company would want to emphasise that this is another USP since this lens is usually found on higher-end smartphones. The front camera for selfies is 8MP with an AI Portrait mode for better photography.
Xiaomi is promising long hours of battery life on this new Redmi 8A smartphone with the 5,000mAh battery. There is the USB Type-C 18W fast charging support, again, something not usually found in entry level smartphones. The phones is supplied with only a 10W fast charger.
Some of the other features being highlighted include a P2i splash proof nano-coating and FM Radio playback feature without the headphones. Midnight Black, Sunset Red and Ocean Blue are the three colour variants of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A.
As for pricing, the 2GB+32GB variant will be available for ₹6,499 and the 3GB+32GB variant will be available for Rs 6,999. The phone can be bought from Mi.com and Flipkart starting September 29, 11:59pm.
