Micro blogging site Twitter’s tryst with product development and better customer engagement continues with the latest report claiming that the company has rolled out a camera feature that lets the users shoot videos or capture images and share it directly. This new feature on Twitter is much like what the users of Snapchat are already used to. This could be seen as part of Twitter’s twin objective of retaining its existing membership base, while expanding the numbers.

Rumours of Twitter working on this feature had been doing the rounds earlier too. But the actual rollout is reportedly happening now. According to this report, the existing camera in the Twitter page will be able to do the job. Just as the user comes across any event worth being shared with those that follow him or her, the same can be shot and tweeted instantly. The sharing of photos and videos on Twitter so far has not been an easy operation.

A senior Twitter official has himself tweeted on this new feature. Observers point out that when compared to a social media platform like Facebook, Twitter does not show the same level of alacrity in bringing about changes on its platform. It is only recently that Twitter has taken to making some changes and this new feature is part of these efforts.

In a related development, Twitter had released a prototype app, which it called twttr and is meant to obtain feedback from the users on the changes to be incorporated in the main Twitter platform. Access to this twittr app is by invite and you have to apply for it. It may be early days yet since the app itself may not be taken beyond a certain point.

But the larger picture to emerge that the Twitter users can look forward to more changes to make it an immersive experience for them.
