OYO expands operations to over 500 cities in India

OYO Hotels and Homes announced on Monday that it grew to over 500 cities in India. The company said that it grew from over 300 cities, 10,000+ hotels, 200,000+ rooms to over 500 cities, 18000+ hotels and 270,000+ rooms in the country.

The company further added that tit now has a presence in all states and union territories in the country. Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Gurugram and Hyderabad has the highest concentration of hotels among the metros. 

With regard to tier-2, tier-3 and tier-4 cities, OYO said that Manali, Ujjain, Siliguri, Jalandhar, and Thanjavur topped the list and that over 40% of the rooms under OYO were outside of the metros. 

OYO claims that it has created over 9000 direct and 1,00,000 indirect job opportunities, which it aims to double by next year. 

“At OYO Hotels and Homes, we are focused on strengthening our presence in India & South Asia while also enabling economic opportunities at every level and across not just the metros but also tier 2, 3, 4 cities. We are less than 5% of the total unbranded hotel and guesthouse market in India and there is massive headroom for growth now and in the future,” said Aditya Ghosh, CEO, India & South Asia, OYO Hotels & Homes.

 The company further added that they set up 22 OYO Skill Institutes in the country to train frontline staff, and that it is one of the largest purchasers of linen, toiletries and essential hotel supplies in the country, hence helping multiple ancillary industries and supporting local business.
