Written by : S. Mahadevan

Oppo has today launched a new phone in India with some high-end specs and features. The Oppo R17 Pro and the Oppo R17 were unveiled at an event in Mumbai. This smartphone is a higher end model with a 6.4-inch full HD+ AMOLED display that has a screen resolution of 1080x2340pixels. The screen gets protection from Corning Gorilla Glass level 6. The screen to body ratio has been kept as high as 91.5% with just a waterdrop notch on the display to house the front camera.

The overall dimensions of the new phone read 157.6mmx74.6mmx7.9mm and at 183gms, you can say the Oppo R17 Pro is slightly heavy.

The processor fitted on this phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710SoC and the ram support comes in 2 variants, 6GB and 8GB with the internal storage pegged at 128GB. Oppo has loaded the Android Orea OS version 8 with the inhouse Color OS 5.2 as the UI skin.

Oppo does not resort to half measures when it comes to the optics section and the Oppo R17 Pro is no exception. There are three sensors in the rear, 12MP+20MP and a third TOF 3D stereo camera sensor. The front camera for selfies is 25MP. There is enough AI support to enhance the overall imaging experience with this Oppo phone as well.

A powerful 3700mAh battery rounds up the hardware specs with all the connectivity options included. The battery can be charged using the Super VOOC Technology.  There is in-display fingerprint sensor as well.

While the other standard variant Oppo R17 comes with the same specifications, the main processor fitted is the lower Qualcomm Snapdragon 670SoC. Rest of the details remain the same.

Oppo has fixed the price for the Indian market for the Oppo R17 Pro at Rs 45,990 while the R17 model can be bought at Rs 34,990. The actual sale starts December 7 and you should be able to grab some attractive offers on launch. While the devices can be bought on the ecommerce sites, pre-ordering is exclusively available on Amazon.
