LG to launch its next flagship ‘Velvet’ on May 7

LG has planned to release its next flagship smartphone on May 7, 2020 and the model’s name is LG Velvet. The company has uploaded a teaser video on the South Korean YouTube site. The video runs for just 15 seconds and there is the rear panel of the phone with three cameras being depicted as three coloured raindrops falling and sticking.

The whole background is as if it is a fashion event where the catwalk is happening. Possibly the company wants to convey that the LG Velvet is all about its smooth and modern looks.

Based on what the company had already shared on the LG Velvet, it sports curved glass both in the front and the rear calling it 3D arc design. The three cameras will sit on top of the panel as raindrops without the kind of bumps or modules seen on most smartphones. That itself may be touted as a new design feature.

There is very little else known about the LG Velvet, except that the processor on it will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 SoC. It has also been confirmed that the phone will be 5G enabled.

The key specifications still to be unveiled are the display size and type, the RAM and storage sizes and the battery size. The triple camera showcased in the teaser video does indicate that the main sensor will be larger in size and the other two smaller, but there are no further details available.

Similarly, the launch date for the LG Velvet is fixed for May 7, 2020 and it is definitely being launched in South Korea. However, the price of the phone and when it will be launched in the other markets are not disclosed.
