Leading the “Automation First” era – UiPath is championing one robot for every person, delivering free and open training and collaboration and enabling robots to learn new skills through AI and machine learning. Led by a commitment to bring digital era skills to more than a million people, the company’s enterprise Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platform has already automated millions of repetitive, mind-numbing tasks for business and government organisations all over the world, improving productivity, customer experience and employee job satisfaction.
What is RPA?
RPA refers to automation that interacts with a computer-centric process, and a software user interface providing support. RPA configures software that will automate the activities or tasks previously performed by humans and aims to replace repetitive tasks performed by humans, with a virtual workforce. RPA is not static and is continuously evolving, learning new skills.
According to a Forrester report, the enterprise RPA market which was worth $250 million in 2016, is projected to grow to a whopping $2900 million by 2021. RPA will achieve near universal adoption in five years if the current adoption trends continue.
Cristian Paun, Head of Business Transformation & Procurement, Lombard International Assurance, said, “UiPath has led to a highly visible change in the way we operate, also in the way our employees now use their time. Instead of spending a lot of their time on manual, non-value added tasks, they can focus on higher-value, more strategic work such as providing better client service or improving compliance efforts.”
The UiPath Enterprise RPA platform consists of three tools: UiPath Studio, UiPath Orchestrator and UiPath Robots. The UiPath Studio can be used to create automations in a visual editor across various software applications; the UiPath Orchestrator lets you control, monitor, and analyse the performance of your virtual workforce; and UiPath Robots lets you run the automation, which includes attended and unattended robots.
UiPath’s top five platform priorities include: Open, Rapid, AI, Scalable and Trusted.
UiPath was created in 2015 on the foundation of the 10-year old Romanian software outsourcing company DeskOver, started by Daniel Dines and Marius Tirca in Bucharest. They began orienting resources into training and orchestrating software robots back in 2012, and one year later, the company initiated its first RPA journeys, with Sutherland and Dell.
UiPath Academy allows thousands of people worldwide to train with the UiPath RPA Platform solution. The goal is to train one million people in RPA over the next three years.
The company’s footprint in the automation industry is acknowledged with several titles: a global Leader and Star Performer in RPA (Everest Group), and — based on superior technology — as RPA industry leader (Forrester). Following these up, in 2018 the Everest Group’s PEAK Matrix report on RPA named UiPath a Leader and Star Performer, making it the only vendor to receive the distinctions two years in a row.
UiPath currently has a global thriving RPA developer community of more than 200,000 members and is well on its way to democratise RPA and support the digital business revolution. It continues to accelerate the product roadmap, particularly with innovations that integrate machine learning (ML) and AI algorithms.
