The entry level segment for smartphones in India appears to be heating up with many phone makers releasing their devices at price points around or less than Rs 5, 000. The latest in the market is from the Indian company Intex Technologies and the phone is Intex Aqua Style III.

This new phone has a 5-inch FWVGA display (480x854pixels) and has the Spreadtrum Cortex A7MP SoC as the main processor. A pixel density of 296ppi is not bad for this combination.

The graphics department is taken care of by the Mali 400 GPU. The clocking speed offered by the CPU is 1.3GHz. The RAM is 1GB and the internal memory is 16GB with the provision to expand this to 64GB using a microSD card.

The optics section has identical 5MP sensors in the rear as well as the front. The rear camera is assisted by a LED flash. A 2500mAh battery powers the smartphone. Intex claims the battery can last 300 hours on standby mode and offers five hours of talk time.

The OS, however, is the Android Nougat 7.0. From the connectivity angle also, Intex has ensured that the Intex Aqua Style III has all the options available on the table including 4G VoLTE, so inevitable in the Indian context.

There are two colour options, champagne and black and the phone’s dimensions read 146.3mmx73.3mmx9.5 mm and its weight is 164 grams.

On the price front, the Intex Aqua Style III is being offered at Rs 4, 299 and is an Amazon exclusive.

As mentioned, these budget cum entry level smartphones are jostling for space in a crowded market. In this particular case, Intex would like to push the 4G VoLTE connectivity and the Android 7 features as the highlights that should spur the buyers on to choose their latest smartphone.
