Indian e-commerce major Flipkart has launched a new range of washing machines under its private label brand, MarQ by Flipkart ahead of the festive season

Launched at a price point starting at Rs 6,499, the MarQ by Flipkart washing machines come in two washing capacities 6.5 and 7.5 Kgs.

MarQ by Flipkart is Flipkart’s private label launched last year for large appliances. It currently sells TVs, ACs, Microwave Ovens, Washing Machines, Sound Bars and Premium Headphones.

To further enhance the range and keep up with latest tech and customer demand, Flipkart claims that it is working with some of the best manufacturers around the world.

“Indians have unique needs and preferences unlike any other market, and MarQ products are nothing short of made to order to suit those very necessities that we identified in our course of making these products. Our competitive edge was to meet the need gaps in any category that Flipkart has a private label play in MarQ by Flipkart washing machines have enjoyed great customer feedback and we continue to build on that as we monitor reviews closely,” Adarsh K. Menon, Vice President & Head of Private Labels & Electronics, said in a statement.

These products also offer end to end post purchase support through the warranty policies, designed thoughtfully for customer needs, supported by a wide network of service centers in over 300 cities.

Flipkart has been betting on private labels to drive margins. According to Flipkart, the main reason is filling a need gap. “We realised that in many categories, there was a huge need gap that customers had. The core objective is to fill that need gap. Through private labels, we are mainly driving two things – affordability and quality. We have seen that there is less quality, products aren’t affordable and to buy affordable products, consumers are having to compromise on quality. We decided to launch a private label to address both these parameters,” a Flipkart spokesperson told TNM previously.

Apart from MarQ, Flipkart has also launched SmartBuy, its in-house brand for electronics and electronic accessories, Perfect Homes for furniture and Billion – a made in India brand. Its subsidiary Myntra also owns brands such as Roadster, Mast&Harbour and HRX.
