Edu-tech startup XploraBox raises undisclosed amount in funding from SucSEED

XploraBox, a New Delhi-based startup in the edu-tech sector has received an investment from SucSEED Venture partners. The other investors to have participated in this round include Green Shoots Capital. Metaform Ventures LLC, JITO Angel Network, SWAN Angel Network, Group of Angel Investors. The amount invested is not disclosed.

Xplorabox has come up with a business model that has a subscription box for learning through play in children. There are four founders of XploraBox: Rishi and Shweta Das, a wife-husband duo, besides Dhirendra Meena and Rishabh Gupta. The startup was founded in 2015.

In their offering they believe in engaging children in activity-based learning programmes. The basic objective is to try and wean away the kids, aged between two and twelve, from TV and mobile and channelise their attention to other constructive activities. ‘Learning through fun’ is their mantra, with fun stories and educational activities which are offered through their boxes. The company has served more than 50,000 customers and dispatching kits to over 500 cities every month.

“On an average, children are spending over 3 hours every day in front of screens, this is having a huge impact on their brain development, more and more parents are becoming aware of this problem and are looking to introduce their children to physical activity-based learning tools. Xplorabox provides fun, learning and boost essential developmental skills of the children,” Rishi says.

They believe the 50,000 customers they have serviced so far have reported excellent response to their boxes. More products could get launched in the coming months.

The funds now raised by the startup will be used to expand the business and take it to some overseas destinations like North America and GCC countries as well.  

XploraBox aims to provide learning aids that can enhance various Developmental Skills like Motor Skills, Cognitive Skills etc. in children and the parents must be able to visibly see the difference. Some of the issues being faced by the children like Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), unhealthy posture, and increasing cases of myopia are attempted to be addressed.

The startup is looking at huge prospects for their business in India and worldwide, running into billions with the large population of kids in the target age group and hope to tap into that market.
