The News Minute | January 22, 2015 | 9:10 am ISTThe YSR Congress on Wednesday lashed out at Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s situation on the state’s financial crisis and alleged that it was only an evasive measure against hiking the employee's salaries. The chief opposition party alleged that Mr Naidu wants to evade hiking employees’ salaries as per the pay revision recommendations. Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, a YSRCP MLA questioned the fact that the TDP leaders gave a rosy picture of the economy during the pre-Budget meeting but suddenly claimed that the coffers were empty to pay the salaries of the employees. Read - AP government sends SOS to centre after it stares at empty coffersReports suggest that the state presently has around Rs 1,200 crore in its coffers but the amount is not sufficient if one were to add the cost of the bills of establishment and maintenance for January. The recent decision of the TDP regime to increase the age of retirement of its employees from 58 to 60 also adds to the degrading situation. The state also promised increments to some employees though this has been put on hold. The YSRCP also demanded that the salaries of the staff should not be stopped at any cost and claimed, as they frequently do - that Naidu's personal expenditure should be scaled down. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
