Was Anantapur MLA Prabhakar Chowdary behind TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy’s resignation?

Is the feud between TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy and Anantapur MLA V Prabhakar Chowdary the reason behind the former’s exit from his post? Yes, say party leaders.

“Although the duo have had a verbal spat on several occasions earlier, they have started maintaining a distance for quite some time now. I don’t know whom to blame for this current crisis. But if there’s any reason for his sudden decision, it has to do with Prabhakar,” a senior party leader who didn’t want to be named told TNM.

Another TDP leader said, “This is just as surprising to us as it is to you. But I’m sure that he will not resign. This is just a drama. JC wanted to lay a road in his hometown [Tadipatri], which he had promised to the people of his constituency. However, there was a High Court stay order on it, and Prabhakar disagreed to his plan. This resulted in a verbal spat between the two,” he recalled.

Speaking to TNM, Anantapur MLA V Prabhakar Chowdary, the man speculated to be the reason behind JC’s resignation, denied the rumours.

He said, “We have our differences, hence we don’t talk to each other. He always disagrees to my view point, so I stopped talking to him for good.”

When told that even JC has indicated him to be the reason behind his resignation, he said, “Everyone knows JC and his impulsive character. This decision must have been impulsive. We are not on talking terms anymore, so how can I be a problem?” Chowdary said.

J C Diwakar Reddy revealed his decision yesterday out of the blue. He said that a few ‘evil-forces’ in the party were the reason behind his decision to quit the post. “Everybody knows who the reason behind it is,” he told.

Maintaining that he will continue in politics and continue supporting TDP and Chandrababu Naidu, he said that he didn’t want to continue as MP as he was unable to provide water to the people, and was unable to fulfil the promises he made to the people.

Reacting to this, on Friday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that it's not a 'big' issue. "I'm available for everybody. If there's any problem, people should sort it out by discussing." He said that the government is providing water to everyone, contrary to JC's claims.

While the TDP MP is firm on his decision, a few TDP leaders have called it a stunt to garner Chandrababu Babu’s attention. The MP is likely to visit Delhi on Tuesday and submit his resignation to the Lok Sabha Speaker.
