Vivekananda Reddy murder: AP police arrest PA, 2 others for alleged evidence tampering

Written by : TNM Staff

Two weeks after the alleged murder of Andhra politician YS Vivekananda Reddy, Kadapa police have arrested three people, including Vivekananda's Personal Assistant (PA) MV Krishna Reddy on Thursday for allegedly tampering with evidence.

Two others – Yerram Gangi Reddy and Prakash – have been arrested by the police, according to Kadapa DySP. The three accused have been accused of shifting Vivekananda Reddy’s body from the bathroom – where he was found – to the bedroom and wiping off bloodstains in the bedroom.

The police have stated that Krishna Reddy, who filed the police complaint after Vivekananda’s death, knows the reason behind the death of the Andhra politician, but has claimed ignorance and did not mention the reasons in his complaint.

In his letter to the police, Krishna Reddy had stated that on March 15, he along with the domestic help and the domestic help’s son had entered the house through a side door and found Vivekananda lying in a pool of blood near the toilet.

A case was initially booked under Section 174 of CrPC (Investigation of unnatural death) after Krishna Reddy raised suspicions that the former minister was found in the room and with injury marks on the body.

Later, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was formed by Andhra Pradesh police filed a murder case after preliminary investigations raised suspicions that the leader may have been killed.

The alleged murder of the leader, who was the brother of former CM YS Rajashekhara Reddy and uncle of YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has led YSRCP and TDP stepping into trading charges of "murder politics" in the poll-bound state.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has reached out to Governor alleging foul play and a conspiracy behind his uncle's murder. Vivekananda's daughter YS Sunitha Reddy too has filed a complaint with officials of the Election Commission seeking an impartial probe into her father’s death.

The Election Commission recently transferred three IPS officers, including Adl DG (Intelligence) AB Venkateshwara Rao and Kadapa SP Rahul Dev Sharma and a district SP. Several reports have claimed that the transfers of the IPS officers came after multiple complaints by the YSRCP to the Election Commission of India.
