Two YSR Congress MLAs today rejoined Telugu Desam Party here today on the occasion of Ugadi, the Telugu New Year day.

Varupula Subba Rao of Prathipadu constituency in East Godavari district and P Sunil Kumar of Guduru (SC) in SPS Nellore district rejoined TDP in the presence of party national president N Chandrababu Naidu.

"I have quit YSRC in deference to the wishes of my constituency people. Its a homecoming for me," Subba Rao said.

Sunil said he met Chandrababu Naidu a week after he became Chief Minister in June 2014 and offered to join the TDP.

"But he asked me to wait till an opportune time and that time has come now," Sunil added.

He ridiculed YSRC chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's claim that the TDP was purchasing opposition MLAs by paying up to Rs 30 crore.

"We need to hire a mini truck to carry such cash. It is totally false that TDP has offered us money to defect," Sunil said.

The two legislators asserted that they were returning to the TDP only to take part in the development process under Chandrababu's leadership.
