TTD braces for new year rush; 1.3 lakh people expected to visit

The News Minute | December 25, 2014 | 7:35 am ISTThe Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) is bracing itself for the biggest day of the year with the entire area planning to be packed on January 1 and 2 on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadasi and Dwadasi respectively.According to a report in the Times of India, The TTD management opened up online booking for January 2 for 10,000 special darshan tickets priced at Rs 300 which sold out in less than an hour and resulted in the crash of the TDP server.The TTD is also expecting at least 1.3 lakh devotees on January 1 with the VVIP list including more than 200 sitting and former MLAs and MLCs, 20 MPs and 100 bureaucrats who have applied and will be allowed to take 4 people with him/her for the darshan.Nearly 4,000 rooms in Tirumala are likely to be booked on December 31 to ensure accommodation for the VIPs.Tweet
