Andhra chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu expects to stay in power for quite a while, as the TDP chief reportedly told his ministers in a teleconference, that the party should hold power for the next 20 years.

The Times of India quoted him as saying:

“There should not be any space for opposition parties in the state. Take this advice seriously...We can reach the desired goals only when there is no Opposition. If the state has to benefit, TDP has to remain in power for next 20 years."

The report adds that Naidu highlighted on the need for political consolidation in every district and constituency before the party heads for the 2019 elections. 

“Counter the propaganda of the opposition parties and dispel any misgivings among people on varius government programmes and welfare schemes...Development of the state and welfare of people is a `yagna' for me and everyone should join hands with me," the TOI report also quoted him as saying.

Last week, addressing a news conference in his new office at Velagapudi, Naidu had suggested abolishing big currency notes and called for making banking transactions compulsory in course of time to curb black money.

Stressing the need for ban on cash transactions, he reiterated his demand for immediately abolishing currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denominations.
