Telangana, Andhra to partner with US experts on safety standards

In a move towards setting global standards in industrial safety, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) will engage the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in creating protocols across various sectors.

Ministers of transport of both the Telugu speaking states will be part of the 2017 HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) India Professional Development Conference and Exposition to be held in Hyderabad on February 16 and 17.

More than 200 HSE professionals from around the world will gather at the conference to discuss and mutually learn on environmental, health and safety and sustainability issues relevant to the local context.

This conference is being organised by ASSE in collaboration with National Safety Council (NSC) of India. 

"We are proud to witness the growing interest for global events such as the Safety India 2017," said Thomas Cecich, ASSE President.

"It shows the commitment of HSE professionals across the globe to not only make workplaces safer but to create global spaces to share best practices, and learn from one another," he said.

The conference will have discussion on issues relevant to the local context like road safety and also the upcoming themes like sustainability and life cycle assessment. This will provide a platform for local professionals to interact with professionals from nine countries and 12 states of India.

The conference would also have technical discussions on subjects like industrial hygiene and occupational health, risk management, process safety and business transformation.
