The News Minute | November 7, 2014 | 11:00 am ISTThe Telugu Desam Party (TDP) which is currently in power in AP has its hopes raised after speculations that the party was being offered a berth in the Union cabinet expansion that is likely to happen on Sunday. The speculation was triggered off when party president and AP Chief Minister, Chandra Babu Naidu had a 5 min phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the India Economic Summit held on Thursday.Naidu was the only panelist at the session, where four other chief ministers, including Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan were expected to attend. Naidu has proposed the name of Rajya Sabha MP YS Chowdary, who is considered a staunch loyalist of the TDP chief.Ashok Gajpathi Raju, the Civil Aviation Minister, is the only representative from TDP in the cabinet as of now.A Telangana representation in the Modi cabinet would help the TDP arrest its erosion in the new state. The BJP government seems to be considering all its allies in the expansion of the Union Cabinet. It had also expressed keen interest in inducting Shiv Sena leader Suresh Prabhu but the Sena has put forward Anil Desai's candidature for Rajya Sabha stating that Prabhu could not be sent to Parliament till 2016.
