Student beaten up in Kurnool for “Ayyappa” attire

The News Minute | November 2, 2014 | 10:25 am ISTTension prevailed in a private school in Kurnool after a student was allegedly beaten up for wearing an “Ayyappa” attire.A teacher in the school warned the boy that he had to wear the school uniform and when the boy refused, he was subjected to corporal punishment.He was then sent home by the school authorities. On learning about the incident, the parents rushed to the school to demand an apology from the management for hurting the religious sentiments of the boy.Right wing activists along with some Ayyappa devotees gathered at the school and staged a protest and when the school management refused to change its decision, violence escalated as the activists started destroying school property.
