Tollywood Director SS Rajamouli, who has been entrusted with overviewing the design of the architecture of the Assembly, and the administrative city of Amaravati, gave a presentation of designs to the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday.

 CM Chandrababu Naidu, officials of AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) along with Rajamouli met at the CM’s residence in Hyderabad to discuss the progress of the capital’s building.

In the meeting, Rajamouli reportedly gave a presentation on the designs created by The Norman Fosters, a British construction firm.

The firm had recently submitted two designs for the Secretariat which has been kept in public domain for public opinion. In the meeting, the officials and CM zeroed in on the final design of the Secretariat.

Earlier, there was a disagreement with the CM and the firm. Reportedly, the CM wasn’t convinced with the designs of the Assembly, for which Rajamouli had to fly to London to have deliberations with them and chalk out fresh designs.

The inclusion of Rajamouli, a film director, into the advisory team for construction of the AP capital has amused many who have questioned what qualification he has to be a part of the project. The director later issued a clarification denying that he wasn’t the consultant, designer or supervisor of the project.

He said that he just wants to design the Assembly in a much iconic manner. He stated that he’s just interpreting the vision of the CM and telling the same to the construction company to quicken the process, he said on Twitter.

Rajamouli is the director of the popular two-part film series ‘Baahubali’.  Naidu was impressed with the set of Mahishmathi, the kingdom in ‘Baahubali’, after which he was engaged into the project to give in an Indian touch to the architecture and designs made by the British firm.
