Six killed as truck rams into 2 auto-trolleys in Andhra

At least six people were killed and 10 others injured when a truck rammed into two auto-trolleys in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district on Thursday, the state police said.

Those killed in two auto-trolleys were on their way to a local temple when the accident occurred.

According to police, when the two vehicles were parked by roadside, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit them.

While five people died on the spot, one person died at a hospital. The dead included a woman.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Nuzividu.

The accident occurred near Tukkuluru village in Nuzividu mandal of the district, according to the police.

The police said the driver of the truck escaped after the crash.

Deputy Chief Minister N.A. Chinnarajappa expressed shock over the accident and the deaths.

Krishna District Collector A. Babu announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those killed in the accident.
