Even as people were video-graphing the hole and taking photos, a larger part of the structure collapsed, bringing down almost the entire roof and a large quantity of construction material.Only a few people were present close to the building when it collapsed, and they escaped without any injuries.

According to media reports, while the incident took place at around 2 pm, during school hours, no one was injured as the building was emptied on account of it being dilapidated.

A total of 35 students were present on the school premises at the time and were said to be playing at the ground when the incident took place. Krisha District Collector Imtiaz also took note of the incident and inquired into it, through local authorities.

“Instructions have been given to vacate the school building immediately. Estimations have been prepared for construction of a new school building in Surampalli village,” Krishna District Collector Imtiaz told The Hindu after an inquiry.

The Mandal Education Officer (MEO) also briefed the Collector on the issue and sad that the school will temporarily be run from another building in Surampalli village, until a new building is constructed.
