JS Chandramouli, a 68-year-old resident from Pandurangapuram in Visakhapatnam district, was among those who were killed in the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives on Tuesday, April 22.
Chandramouli, a retired State Bank of India (SBI) employee, and his wife, Naga Mani, were travelling along with two other couples in Jammu. They were supposed to travel for a week and return to Visakhapatnam on April 26.
“For several hours after the attack, Chandramouli was missing while his wife and others frantically searched for him,” Chandramouli’s brother-in-law B Nageshwar Rao told The Indian Express. Nageshwara is also the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Visakhapatnam.
Naga Mani called up the DSP and asked for his help when she couldn’t find her husband. “They finally found the body at the terror site,” Nageshwar added.
Chandramouli’s mortal remains are expected to arrive at Visakhapatnam airport at 10 pm on Wednesday, April 23. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will personally receive the body at the airport and meet with the deceased’s family members.
Twenty-six persons have been killed, and 17 others, including tourists and locals, were injured in a terror attack in the popular Pahalgam hill station in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday. The injured have been shifted to Pahalgam hospital, from where those with critical injuries were shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment.
