Protestors, led by Roja, don flowers on their ears in agitation against AP CM

In a strange, albeit symbolic, protest against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu not fulfilling his poll promises, YSR Congress leader Roja and her supporters marched in Puttur, Chittoor district, with agitators sporting flowers on their ears.

Calling it an anti-youth government, Roja, an actor-turned-politician, said the CM has been fooling the people by not fulfilling his promises of creating more jobs and for failing to take up the issue of getting special status for the state.

The agitators, who included student leaders of the YSRCP – all wearing flowers on their ears – shouted, ‘Babu, edhi jobu?’ (‘Babu, where is the job?’) as they marched.

Addressing the gathering, Roja said that the Chief Minister had betrayed the voters by not fulfilling his poll promises.

“We are observing every single day how Chandrababu betrayed everyone with his unfulfilled promises. He has neither given employment to the youth nor provided unemployment aid to them,” she said, addressing the rally.

In her scathing attack, she claimed the CM went back on 600 promises made during the elections.

This isn’t the first time Chittoor is witnessing a rather innovative protest.

MP Naramalli Siva Prasad, also an actor, is in fact well-known for his symbolic protests – in 2014, when protests had intensified for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he went to the Parliament dressed as lord Krishna. Since then, he has donned different get-ups to the Parliament in a bid to draw attention back to the question of granting special status to the state.
