The firearms used by policemen in both the April 7 encounters in Seshachalam forest in Andhra Pradesh and near Warangal in Telangana have been sent to the AP Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad for ballistic examination. According to a report in the Deccan Chronicle, ballistic and forensic experts who visited both the crime scenes submitted their observations to higher authorities. In the Seshacalam encounter case too the weapons used by the red sanders anti smuggling task force were sent to APFSL along with some other evidence. Twenty woodcutters were killed in the Seshachalam forests in AP, and five undertrial terror suspects were shot dead near Alair in Telangana in separate encounters. Both the encounters have seen the two governments come under heavy pressure from human rights activists and groups claiming that the encounter's were fake. Viquar Ahmed and four other undertrials were shot dead by the police near Aler on April 7 while bringing them to Hyderabad from Warangal Central Jail. Police claimed that they tried to snatch weapons and escape. The families of the undertrials, have termed the encounter 'staged-managed' and alleged that the police killed them in cold blood.   (Viqar Ahmed) The Hyderabad High Court has directed the Telangana government to file counter affidavit on a petition filed by Viqar's father by April 23. In the seshachalam case, three witnesses have recorded their statements in front of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and fresh autopsies were done on six of the woodcutters who were killed.
