Pawan Kalyan goes on Twitter rampage against Modi govt over beef ban, special status

Actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Thursday posted a series of tweets on issues like cow slaughter, Rohit Vemula suicide, special category status to Andhra and demonetisation, taking potshots at the Modi government.

On the issue of banning cow slaughter and beef, he came down hard on the BJP saying, “It’s a divisive political tactic to create a scare among the communities who consume it and to arouse communal feelings amongst the communities who respect and worship cow”.

He also mentioned if the party was really serious about cow protection, it could have barred its workers, MPs and MLAs from wearing leather footwear and belts and unveiled a plan asking every worker to adopt a cow.

He further tweeted, “If the BJP means what it says, it would have implemented beef ban in Goa where it is in power.”

The New Indian Express reported that Kalyan had been supporting the BJP government in 2014 election, but began distancing himself from it, mainly over the denial of special category status to Andhra.

After being silent for a long time, he recently advised AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu against taking lands under the land pooling scheme in Amaravati and also confronted him for compromising on the special category status.

His last tweet said, “Tomorrow I will post about 'Rohit Vemula' issue.”
