Written by : TNM

The News Minute | December 15, 2014 | 8:10 am ISTDefence Minister Manohar Parrikar is planning to visit Visakhapatnam on Monday to visit the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) and attend a few programs. This will be his first visit to the ENC after taking over his current post.According to a report in The Hindu, an inspection of the nuclear-powered ballistic submarine INS Arihant that is set for sea trial might take place before being flagged off by the Minister. The speculation surfaced because of Admiral R.K. Dhowan's recent statement that INS Arihant would commence its sea trials ‘soon’ before being commissioned to the Navy. The ship with an onboard 83 MW nuclear reactor would be the main attraction during the International Fleet Review which will be held in Visakhapatnam early next year.Though Parrikar's schedule is unconfirmed, he will arrive by an IAF aircraft from Goa at 8 a.m. and leave for Delhi at 10.45 am, the report adds. Tweet
