Not one permanent building in Amaravati after 5 years: Jagan attacks Naidu

YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday lashed out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and said that not even one permanent building had come up in the newly bifurcated state's capital, Amaravati, despite the ruling TDP making tall promises on building a world class capital.

Stating that Naidu was only showing 'graphics' and 'movies' about the capital to the people of the state, Jagan said, "It has been close to five years, and not one permanent building has come up in the capital region. Wherever you see, only temporary buildings have come up, whether it is the Secretariat or the Assembly."

He went on to add, "Do you know the state of these temporary buildings? If three inches of rain fall occurs outside, six inches of rain water can be seen inside."

What the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly was referring to, was the fact that at least on two occasions, rainwater seeped into his chambers in the temporary building in Amaravati.

In May this year, when the leaking water was observed, the housekeeping staff of the Secretariat rushed to Jagan’s office and mopped up the water. A similar incident that occurred in June last year, had blown into a full blown controversy with the Andhra Pradesh government even initiating a CID probe.

"During the 2014 elections, Naidu had said that Amaravati was his dream and showed us a video with graphics. Now that almost five years are over, he is showing us those graphics again and again," Jagan told a crowd.at Meliaputti in Srikakulam district on Monday.

Jagan is presently on a padayatra or foot march which he launched in November last year, virtually kicking off his campaign for the 2019 Assembly elections.

Jagan hopes to recreate the magic of his late father YSR, who had launched a similar padayatra to end the nearly decade-long rule of Chandrababu Naidu in undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2004.
