The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids for the construction of the proposed six-lane, access-controlled Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR), with the 195.23-km project divided into four packages under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).

The tenders, issued on October 2, carry a combined estimated cost of Rs 11,537.70 crore. Each package has a construction schedule of 1,095 days, or three years. Bidders must submit their offers by 11 am on November 18, with the bids scheduled to be opened the following day.

The first package covers the 27.93-km stretch between Kanchikacherla and Nandigama at an estimated cost of Rs 2,975.47 crore. Package 2, the longest at 56 km, will connect Nandigama with Davuluru and has been pegged at Rs 2,864.69 crore.

The third package, estimated at Rs 2,827.95 crore, covers 55.80 km between Kolavennu and Kornepadu. It also includes a 5.3-km spur connecting the ORR to Narakoduru. The final package spans 55.50 km from Kornepadu to Kanchikacherla and is estimated to cost Rs 2,869.59 crore.

Once completed, the ring road is expected to provide a high-capacity alternative for traffic around the Amaravati-Vijayawada-Guntur region with an aim to improving connectivity for commuters and freight operators.

The tender process has been initiated ahead of the project's formal approval by the Union Cabinet, with the government seeking to prevent procedural delays. Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar stated that the proposal was under active consideration and would be placed before the Cabinet after receiving the Finance department's clearance.
