The News Minute | December 7, 2014 | 7:45 am ISTThe new proposed capital of AP may soon have a spiritual attraction with The Hare Krishna Movement (HKM), a breakaway faction of Iskcon, proposing to build a temple over 50 acres on the banks of the Krishna river.According to a report in the Times of India, the proposal has reached AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s desk and has a large number of donors to construct a grand and unique temple.The temple is also expected to consist of a large kitchen that can provide a midday meal to over one lakh people. An HKM team has already identified the land for the complex and the entire estimated cost of Rs 350 crore to build the complex will be raised by Iskcon.The Iskcon temple in Bangalore is currently one of the largest Iskcon temples in the world with a huge cultural complex that was inaugurated in 1997. HKM already runs “Akshaya Patra”, an NGO that provides midday meals to schools across the country and is currently constructing a huge temple with unique architecture at Pedukonda in Anantapur district.
