Irked by blank phone calls, Andhra man allegedly beats teen daughter to death

Written by : TNM Staff

In a shocking incident, a man on Friday allegedly killed his teenaged daughter just on the basis of suspicion in Payakapuram area, as per a report in The Times of India

The deceased has been identified as Krishnaveni, a 15-year-old class 10 student.

Although the incident occurred on Friday, it came to light only on Saturday night when the family members were unobtrusively trying to cremate the girl, the Nunna police told ToI.

Alluri Venkata Ramana (35), is an auto rickshaw driver and was in an intoxicated state when he allegedly thrashed his daughter to death.

He took this step after suspecting that the blank calls landing up on his phone were meant for her, according to police sources.

Krishnaveni repeatedly denied any knowledge of the matter but to no avail, as her father would have none of it.

Her father kept asking her who the caller was to which Krishnaveni pleaded ignorance time and again.

Things came to a head on Friday and the man clobbered his daughter to death in a fit of rage.

The girl eventually succumbed to her injuries.

What is even more shocking is that the family members tried to hush up the matter, instead of informing the police and prepared for her funeral rites at their residence.

Local residents however who were aware of the matter informed the Nunna police, who reached the spot and stopped the funeral.

The body has been sent to Vijayawada Government General Hospital (GGH) for post-mortem.

A case has been registered under section 174 of CrPC (unnatural death) and investigation is underway.
