I will be the opposition: BJP MLA tells alliance partner TDP in Andhra Assembly

Written by : TNM Staff

In an Assembly without its main opposition, a BJP MLA is bored. Vishnu Kumar Raju, who represents Vishakapatnam North in the TDP led Andhra Pradesh Assembly didn’t quite care that the ruling party in the state is an alliance partner of his party. He declared in the House that he was ready to play the role of the opposition.

The Andhra Assembly is witnessing rather strange proceedings, with the main opposition party – the YSRCP – boycotting the House. The Jagan Mohan Reddy led party is demanding action against the legislators who defected from their party to the ruling TDP. In fact, four of the defectors got ministerial berths as well, namely, Adinarayana Reddy, RV Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao, N Amarnath Reddy and Bhuma Akhila Priya.

Responding to this situation, Vishnu Kumar said on that he was falling asleep during the session.

In fact, the BJP MLA decided to walk the talk as well, demanding that the MLAs who defected tender their resignation. He even went on to say that the Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao was not providing him a chance to speak on issues due to the lack of opposition in the house.

This is not the first time that this BJP MLA has courted controversy.

Earlier, during the infamous land scam which shook Andhra Pradesh, Vishnu Kumar Raju openly blamed TDP leaders for playing a foul game. The scam involved several allegations of encroachment and record tampering, and several political leaders were named in the scam. There were over 168 complaints from mandals, involving several acres of land, that were submitted to the authorities.

It can be recalled a in the wake of land grabbing allegations public spat between two Andhra ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Ayyanna Patrudu came out in the open, after a letter that the former wrote to Naidu surfaced.
