In a positive move, ten artists from Telangana gathered in Hyderabad on Friday, and announced that an art camp would be conducted in Vijayawada to raise funds for AP’s new capital Amravati.

Titled 'Art beyong boundaries', the three-day camp which will be followed by an auction includes senior artists like Laxman Aelay, Chippa Sudhakar, Kavita Deuskar and Kappari Kishan.

The artists will be working at the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada (CCV) and their paintings will be exhibited at Capital Cinemas. Artists from Andhra are also welcome to take part. 

"I was at an art exhibition in Hyderabad and I met a few artists who knew about CCV. And they said that even they would like to help and contribute to promote art and culture there. The states are divided but both have the same culture with subtle differences," Y. Harish Chandra Prasad, founder-chairman of CCV told Deccan Chronicle.

There is no central theme as each artist will work on their own interests, and the funds collected from the auction will help in building Amravati. 

"I will be working on a Buddha painting and another on Indian girls as my contribution to the camp. I have been working on the Buddha from the last eight years," Hyderabad based artist Kappari Kishan, told The Hindu.

Mohammed Rustum, another artist from Hyderabad, told the newspaper that his works at the CCV will feature areas in Andhra Pradesh like the Araku Valley.

The artists add that it isn't the money collected, but the gesture that counts. The date of the exhibition of paintings is yet to be finalized.
