Four female students, who were reported missing from their hostel in Vijayawada on Saturday, have been found by the Andhra Pradesh police.

The second year intermediate students from the Bishop Azaraiah Junior College were sent back to their parents after they were spotted at a bus stand in Visakhapatnam, police told TNM.

Police found the girls on Sunday, after receiving a missing complaint earlier in the day from the College hostel officials.

“We formed special teams and traced the students in just eight hours,” Suryaraopet Circle Inspector GV Vinay Mohan told The Hindu.

Police added that they are not suspecting any foul play over the incident.

"We have brought them back to Vijayawada, handed over to their parents safely,”  Suryaraopeta Police Station Inspector told TNM.

Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam are 350 kilometres apart on road.

“We don’t suspect anyone,” he added.

The students told the police that they had left for Visakhapatnam on bus to visit places like Beemili and RK beach.

A missing complaint was registered in the Suryaraopeta PS and the parents of the students were informed about the situation, Hans India reported. All the police stations in the state were informed.

Hans India identified the missing students as Keerthi, Deepthi, Mounika and Madhavi.

The Hindu report said that one of the students was scolded and her cellphone for speaking on the cellphone with her boyfriend during class and her phone was confiscated by the college management . It was only after that the plan to escape the hostel was planned, the report said.
