A head constable of the excise department in Andhra's Nellore died on Tuesday after he allegedly killed himself by spiking his own drink with pesticide at a wine shop in Sullurpet.

According to a report in the Times of India, Srinivasulu who had been posted at the shop consumed liquor there along with two of his friends Sudhakar and Rammurthy everyday, and was depressed by problems in his marital life.

However, the constable also poured pesticide and warned his companions not to drink it. However, they did not pay heed to his warning and while Srinivaslu died on the spot, one person was declared brought dead by doctors and the other was said to be critical.

"Preliminary reports indicate Srinivasulu mixed organic phosphate in cool drinks. Though he did advise them against consumption of the drinks, Rammurthy and Sudhakar did not pay heed to him," Sullurpet inspector Vijaya Krishna told TOI.
