Police went into a tizzy on Friday, when a man tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide at the residence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, in Undavalli.

The man, identified as Srinivasa Reddy, hails from Proddatur, Kadapa district. He had come, along with his wife and children, to visit the chief minister and explain his ordeal.

However, as he failed to meet the CM, the distressed man tried to kill himself while the police were watching.

The alert police reacted swiftly and thwarted Srinivasa’s suicide attempt. He was detained and later handed over to Tadepalli police, reported The New Indian Express.

Srinivasa had come to complain against Kesava Reddy, chairman of Keshava Reddy Educational Institutions and relative of Minister of Animal Husbandry Adinarayana Reddy. He alleged that Kesava had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from him in 2012 but never returned it, despite his repeated appeals.

Talking to local media, Srinivasa stated that he had lent money to Kesava Reddy through a mediator.

“As Kesava failed to repay the money, I met Adinarayana Reddy along with my relatives. He had assured me that the money would be repaid within three months with interest. However, after three months, he went back on his words, and asked me not to disturb him. He asked me to collect the money from the mediator itself,” he said.
