CRPF jawan injured in landmine blast by Maoists in Vizag Agency area

A CRPF jawan was injured in a landmine blast triggered by the Maoists in the interior forest area of Munchangiput Mandal in Visakhapatnam Agency on Wednesday

The incident happened in Muchangiput’s Dhoopilut area, which borders Odisha

Superintendent of Police Dr Koya Praveen said the injured jawan was being treated at a hospital in Visakhapatnam and was out of danger.         

Road-opening parties of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were carrying out a combing operation when the Maoists triggered the blast in a deserted patch, about one km from the Dhooliputtu junction.

There was also a brief exchange of fire between CRPF jawans and the rebels after the blast.
