The News Minute | February 8, 2015 | 8:05 am ISTIn another setback to Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's ambitious plans of constructing a world-class capital in the state, the Centre has reportedly turned down the state's request for Rs 20,000 crore as financial assistance. The NDA government after providing what was considered a poor Rs 850 crore in the financial package, along with some smaller packages for each district added that it would finance the building of key structures like the assembly and the secretariat.The state of Andhra Pradesh which is in a state of serious financial crisis, seems to be going all out - in an attempt to gather funds.The state which sent an SOS to the Centre stating that it did not have funds and also wrote a letter to the Union finance ministry requesting an immediate release of Rs 2,500 crore so as to pay the salaries for the 5.67 lakh employees on its payroll.Naidu is also expected to talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the Niti Ayog meet in Delhi in a bid to extract some financial support for the TDP-BJP alliance led state.The construction of a new capital and various ambitious development plans looming ahead, AP needs to gather funds fast if it expects to get out of the financial crunch.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
