The News Minute| October 24, 2014| 9.00 am ISTIn the latest update of the ongoing Srisailam crisis, the governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has asked the states to solve the dispute through discussions. The Governor held an open session at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on account of Diwali where he had an informal chat with reporters and exchanged Diwali greetings with everyone.  When asked about to comment about the issue of the sharing of the Krishna waters between the two states, he said "I have already spoken to the two Chief Ministers on the issue. I have suggested that both states resolve the issue through discussions,” He also added that “There are problems faced by the two states but they should be addressed through discussions,"The Telangana and the AP government have been having a standoff ever since Telangana began to operate the units on the right bank of the Srisailam dam, to meet its own power needs which brought dissatisfaction from the Andhra Pradesh side as they claimed they needed the water for the farmers on their side awaiting their first crop. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of AP has announced that he is ready for a discussion on the issue as the states await his Telangana counterpart’s response hoping that a amicable solution can be agreed upon and peace can prevail.
